09:12 < geertu> Welcome to today's Core Group Chat Meeting!
09:12 < geertu> Agenda:
09:12 < geertu> 1. Status Updates
09:12 < geertu> 2. Discussion Topics
09:12 < geertu> Topic 1. Status updates
09:12 < geertu> A) What have we done since last time:
09:12 < geertu> Marek worked on U-Boot (SH4 build with new binutils, PCI on r2dplus,
09:12 < geertu> SDHI regulator delay, USB storage transfer length for broken sticks) and
09:12 < geertu> Linux (PCI DMA, incl. 32-bit limitation).
09:12 < geertu> Niklas struggled with a merge window regression on Koelsch.
09:12 < geertu> Shimoda-san submitted rcar-dmac and ipmmu patches, and pinged the BSDL
09:12 < geertu> files.
09:12 < geertu> Geert presented at and attended Embedded Recipes in Paris, posted
09:12 < geertu> initial R-Car M3-W+ support, investigated merge window regressions, and
09:12 < geertu> reviewed lots of RZ/G2N patches.
09:13 < geertu> B) What we plan to do till next time:
09:13 < geertu> Marek plans to submit U-Boot USB storage fixes/improvements.
09:13 < geertu> Shimoda-san plans to ping the BSDL files, enable ipmmu for sdhi, and
09:13 < geertu> review R-Car M3-W+ and RZ/G2N patches.
09:13 < geertu> Geert plans to look into timer_of conversion,
09:13 < geertu> Laurent, Niklas, Ulrich, and Geert (anyone else?) will attend ELC-E.
09:13 < Marex> morimoto: please forward my thanks to shimoda-san /wrt the BSDL files :)
09:14 < geertu> C) Problems we have currently:
09:14 < geertu> Kaneko-san and Simon left the team.
09:14 < geertu> A big thanks to them for their work during the past years!
09:15 < geertu> ---
09:15 < geertu> Anything I missed?
09:17 < neg> Not that I can think of
09:17 < geertu> Topic 2. Discussion Topics
09:17 < geertu> Anything to discuss from your side? Special requests from Tokyo?
09:21 * patersonc will attend ELC-E
09:21 * Marex will attend ELC-E
09:21 < pinchartl> who won't attend ELC-E ?
09:22 < wsa> JapaPERI :(
09:22 < morimoto> \me not attend :(
09:22 < Marex> no morimoto no good ELCE :'-(
09:22 < patersonc> pinchartl: Anyone else from Renesas Europe?
09:23 < morimoto> Marex: Hehe :) Thanks
09:23 < jmondi> geertu: I'll be at ELC-E (I just noticed I was not listed)
09:23 < morimoto> wsa: I can access to ML management page, but don't know how to add new address. I will ask to shimoda-san tomorrow
09:23 < pinchartl> Kieran won't be able to make it due to prioritising his baby project
09:24 < wsa> BTW, next OSSJ is listed for September 15 – 16 in the LF events calendar
09:24 < wsa> morimoto: thank you!
09:24 * wsa will be at ELCE, too, of course
09:24 < Marex> jmondi: listed where ?
09:25 < geertu> Marex: in the B) above
09:25 < pinchartl> wsa: probably due to the olympics. having OSSJ just before would have been quite impractical
09:25 * pinchartl checks the weather in Okinawa for September
09:25 < jmondi> Marex: in Geert's message
09:26 < wsa> pinchartl: I know. What I heard, it wasn't clear if a new date or a new city will be chosen. I am happy it is a new date and the same city :)
09:26 < jmondi> I really risked to not be registered, as I ignored multiple times the LF emails requesting me to register as speaker, as my brain filter LF emails as 'spam'
09:26 < Marex> wsa: does that mean we need some earlier hanameeting ?
09:27 < geertu> jmondi: So you won't be giving the Airbus talk? Pity
09:27 < Marex> jmondi: ah ok
09:27 < jmondi> geertu: unfortunately not
09:27 < wsa> Marex: I will go to Japan next year again, but unlikely I will go twice
09:27 < Marex> pinchartl: okinawa would've been AWESOME
09:28 < pinchartl> wsa: I would have preferred okinawa :-)
09:28 < geertu> https://events.linuxfoundation.org/about/calendar/?_sft_lfevent-country=japan says Tokyo
09:28 < pinchartl> Marex: https://weatherspark.com/m/142278/8/Average-Weather-in-August-in-Okinawa-Japan#Sections-Humidity
09:29 < pinchartl> only "oppressive" in September, not "miserable" :-)
09:29 < patersonc> It's a shame that OSS-J will be so close to ELC-E 2020 though
09:29 < wsa> OSSJ@Okinawa: "The talk from Laurent Pinchart has to be cancelled because he went to the beach and we can't find him anymore"
09:29 < pinchartl> (well, less chances of miserable)
09:29 < Marex> pinchartl: lol
09:29 < pinchartl> wsa: what's wrong with giving the talk on the beach ?
09:29 < patersonc> A lot of people may only chose 1. The same happened this year with OSS-J and ELC-NA
09:30 < geertu> pinchartl: That's August? Will spend the whole August (and Sep 1-4) in Okinawa?
09:30 < geertu> s/1-4/1-14/
09:30 < pinchartl> geertu: you're tempting me
09:30 < Marex> pinchartl: https://weatherspark.com/m/143438/7/Average-Weather-in-July-in-Kyoto-Japan wow , Kyoto is only oppresive :-O
09:30 < Marex> pinchartl: I can't imagine what miserable must be like ...
09:32 < geertu> Note that that website calls early April in BE "very cold"
09:32 < Marex> geertu: well, early Feb. in BE is miserable :)
09:32 < geertu> Marex: Fortunately you have FOSDEM to keep your heart warm ;-)
09:35 < geertu> Anything else to discuss?
09:35 < geertu> ELC-E dinner plan on Wed eve?
09:36 < wsa> There is a "
09:36 < wsa> Desserts & Drinks Attendee Reception
09:36 < wsa> "
09:36 < wsa> on Wed evening
09:36 < pinchartl> doesn't sound good
09:36 < pinchartl> they expect us to finish dinner at 20:00 to attend the reception
09:36 < patersonc> It's not a good plan
09:36 < pinchartl> Lyond doesn't eat that early
09:37 < pinchartl> I plan to skip the reception
09:37 < wsa> Tue evening still might be better
09:37 < pinchartl> I'm busy on Tuesday I'm afraid
09:37 < patersonc> After the Tech Showcase?
09:38 < patersonc> Just skip the desert reception thingy
09:38 * patersonc pretends that he's invited ;)
09:39 < geertu> "When sessions conclude, attendees are encouraged to explore Lyon, known as the Capital of Gastronomy, to enjoy some of the famous local restaurants before reconvening at our late-night Desserts & Drinks Attendee Reception! "
09:39 < geertu> Indeed weird if you have to finish by 20h00
09:39 < pinchartl> they have a weird concept of late night
09:39 < Marex> pinchartl: 3am ? :)
09:39 * geertu wonders how the LF people survived Barcelona
09:40 < Marex> geertu: that
09:40 < neg> I'm fine in skipping the reception in favor of a nice proper periperi dinner
09:41 < Marex> ACK
09:41 < geertu> Yah, usually it;s hard to get food during those mega-OSS events, and this time they explicitly tell you to eat first
09:41 < wsa> I'd still prefer Tue after the showcase, but will not block Wed evening if you all are happy with it
09:42 * geertu wonders if he has to choose between wsa and pinchartl
09:42 < patersonc> Don't the have the usual attendee reception on Tues?
09:42 < patersonc> *they
09:42 < geertu> Both Tue and Wed are fine for me
09:42 < wsa> patersonc: https://osseu19.sched.com/
09:42 < geertu> patersonc: They have, until 19h15
09:43 < patersonc> Gotcha
09:43 < geertu> "Join your fellow attendees after sessions conclude for drinks, canapes, networking and the opportunity to check out the latest and greatest sponsor products and technologies!
09:43 < geertu> "
09:43 < geertu> canapes?
09:43 < patersonc> Huzzah
09:43 < patersonc> Including Edge AI running on RZ/G2 :)
09:44 < geertu> patersonc: I'm sold
09:44 < pinchartl> wsa: do you still need time to read the I/O status e-mails, in which case I could proceed with MM ? :-)
09:46 < wsa> I am done preparing
09:46 < wsa> I think IO will be super fast
09:47 < geertu> OK
09:47 < geertu> Thanks for joining, and have a nice continued day!
