09:03 < shimoda> sorry for the late
09:03 < shimoda> hello wolfram-san!
09:04 < wsa_> no problem
09:04 < wsa_> then let's start
09:04 < wsa_> only topic I have for today is syncing todo list
09:05 < wsa_> i'd think we should start with that one
09:05 < wsa_> and then see, if there are topics left
09:05 < horms> (i sense the todo lists may end up being the primary task of team leaders!)

09:06 < wsa_> PWM und SATA bindings went upstream
09:07 < wsa_> I2C clock calculation and USBPHY went upstream
09:07 < horms> SATA integration is also in mainline (the dts/dtsi bits)
09:07 < wsa_> I2C multi master handling went public
09:07 < wsa_> yes
09:07 < wsa_> typo, s/bindings/enablement/
09:08 < horms> the bindings are also in mainline
09:08 < wsa_> and I added the thermal-zone task for thermal which morimoto-san currently works on
09:09 < wsa_> so, quite some stuff which went upstream or public
09:09 < wsa_> which is nice :)
09:09 < wsa_> I do have a question about the 'request' file
09:09 < horms> from my side i see we are making steady progress, which is good
09:10 < wsa_> In my todo-list, the I2C-DMA task is planned for 2016-05-31
09:10 < morimoto> wsa_: thank you for adding me about thermal_zone
09:11 < wsa_> in the request file, ",Upstreaming and Test with DMA v1" is planned for 2016-09-30
09:11 < wsa_> So, it looks to me the task has been rescheduled?
09:11 < wsa_> Is my assumption correct?
09:12 < wsa_> A similar case for USB3Func
09:12 < morimoto> This "request" was indicated on previous PeriPeriCon. and not well synced :P
09:13 < morimoto> We are happy if we can have it until 2016-09-30
09:13 < wsa_> so, i keep the dates from my todo-file?
09:14 < morimoto> We want to sync todo <-> request somehow
09:15 < morimoto> I think each leader updates "todo", and Renesas updates "request".
09:15 < wsa_> ok, this seems like work-in-progress, I'll keep the dates and keep an eye on what's happening there
09:16 < wsa_> 'request' says:
09:16 < wsa_> Thermal,2016-03-31,request,?,Upstreaming For H3
09:16 < wsa_> I'll add an item to the todo-list, because this is "kind of soon" and the task doesn't look trivial to me
09:18 < wsa_> what about Gen2 MMCIF items? Does it make sense to keep them?
09:18 < wsa_> 29 MMCIF,?,noplan,?,DMA support
09:18 < wsa_> 30 MMCIF,?,noplan,?,PM support
09:18 < wsa_> 31 MMCIF,?,noplan,?,improve error reporting
09:18 < geertu> There's also a known crash in mmcif during suspend on lager
09:19 < wsa_> and one when you turn lockdep on
09:20 < wsa_> I'd think OOPSes are always worth an action item :)
09:20 < wsa_> but stuff like PM or DMA support? Dunno
09:20 < horms> fwiw, i see trouble on koelsch and lager on recent linux-next trees. I am yet to investigate (I was hoping the problem would go away!)
09:20 < wsa_> I can keep them, but I wonder their value when doing the reports ;)
09:21 < geertu> horms: lost SPI FLASH partitions?
09:22 < horms> let me try a boot
09:22 < wsa_> morimoto: what do you think about the MMCIF items?
09:22 < wsa_> geert: the task "SCIF,v4.6,plan,geert,SCIF FIFO flushing", is it the same as "SCIF,?,noplan,?,FIFO drain issue"?
09:23 < morimoto> do you mean keep or delete ?
09:23 < wsa_> morimoto: what would be your choice? :)
09:24 < morimoto> We want to fix issue, but no resource, and Gen3 doesn't need it
09:24 < geertu> Oh, ot's already there? So the wiki is not up to date?
09:25 < morimoto> wsa_: is this the point ?
09:25 < geertu> (ah, the wiki doesn't show noplan ;-)
09:25 < wsa_> morimoto: yes, thanks. I'll keep it for the record then
09:26 < morimoto> geertu: yes it doesn't indicate some of them (depend on schedule/person/status)
09:27 < wsa_> geertu: "SCIF,v4.5,plan,geert,DMA support for Gen3": is it v4.5 or v4.6 material?
09:27 < morimoto> Now, I'm planing to update more about peripelist
09:27 < morimoto> person = ?, and status = "plan" mean "no resource"
09:28 < geertu> It's too later for v4.5
09:28 < morimoto> it can be indicate as "red and bold"
09:28 < horms> geertu: boot log http://pastebin.com/ewvThT4Y
09:28 < wsa_> geertu: That's what I thought, too, I'll change to v4.6
09:29 < horms> geertu: looks like something for Laurent
09:29 < geertu> horms: Known issue in media-next
09:29 < wsa_> same for the IP core switcher :/
09:29 < horms> geertu: excellent, thanks
09:29 < geertu> horms: That's why I dropped media-next for last renesas-drivers
09:29 < horms> haha
09:30 < horms> shall we ask stephen to drop it too?
09:30 < geertu> horms: Looks like I'll have to drop it for tomorrow, too
09:32 < wsa_> I also added "I2C,v4.6,plan,wolfram,improve runtime power management"
09:33 < wsa_> i think we can improve by using auto-suspend
09:33 < wsa_> shouldn't be a lot of work, but should be covered
09:35 < wsa_> that's all items I have for today
09:35 < shimoda> I would like to update todo about usb
09:35 < shimoda> -USB3Func,2016-05-31,plan,shimoda,Unsupported on Gen3 currently; needs driver

09:36 < wsa_> oh, you published the func driver already? i missed that, sorry
09:37 < wsa_> Happily added these items :)
09:38 < shimoda> thanks! :)
09:38 < horms> shimoda: I responded to your "renesas,usb3-peri-r8a7795" email to periperi
09:39 < wsa_> horms: ho is PTP going? do we need another item besides "EtherAVB,v4.5,public,simon,initial PTP support"?
09:39 < wsa_> how
09:39 < horms> good question, let me check real quick
09:40 < geertu> wsa_: The other SCIF task
09:40 < geertu> wsa_: The other "new" SCIF task is also a dupe
09:40 < wsa_> geertu: yes, fixed that already
09:41 < wsa_> i now have:
09:41 < shimoda> horms: thank you! but, we have to keep "renesas,usb3-peri-r8a7795" because the style of other drivers style are peripheral-soc?
09:41 < wsa_> 46 SCIF/HSCIF,v4.5,public,geert,Baud Rate Generator for external clock
09:41 < wsa_> 47 SCIF,v4.6,plan,geert,DMA support for Gen3
09:41 < wsa_> 48 SCIF,v4.6,plan,geert,Extend subsystem with GPIO-based software handling and hardware flow control
09:41 < wsa_> 49 SCIF,v4.6,plan,geert,SCIF FIFO flushing
09:42 < horms> shimoda: rob has requested that we make new bindings use the new driver. I think its reasonable though it looks a build untidy as we end up with mixed styles for similar drivers. My advice is to follow is request. But if you don't want to then I recommend explaining to him why. Of course its really up to you and I doubt that Rob will argue much.
09:44 < shimoda> horms: thank you for the advice. I don't have any requeirement about the string order, I will follow him
09:44 < horms> wsa_: I think the PTP specific tasks for EtherAVB are done. There is some fallout that is being resolved, but I don't expect any resulting patches to change the funtionality. There are also non-PTP patches both merged and prototype for EtherAVB. I am managing them through the Upport todo list. SO I think you can change the above EtherAVB task to "merged" and leave it at that.
09:45 < wsa_> horms: good news
09:46 < horms> It seems the more patches for EtherAVB we push the more inclined Sergei is to send patches for EtherAVB or sh-eth. So its like a 2 for the price of one deal. Though Sergei is a rather noisy fellow.
09:47 < wsa_> I agree with all what you said :)
09:48 < wsa_> anything else?
09:48 < horms> Just tap the floor twice if you agree and once if you don't.
09:48 < geertu> horms: Especially when he wants to return to the old days of text justification for daisy wheel printers ;-)
09:49 < horms> :)
09:49 < horms> Lets say there is a certain irony when his patches fail checkpatch.pl
09:50 < wsa_> :D
09:50 < geertu> RENESAS ETHERNET DRIVERS
09:50 < geertu> R: Sergei Shtylyov <sergei.shtylyov@cogentembedded.com>
09:51 < horms> that was one of the results of kaneko-san posting patches for ethernet
09:51 < horms> it was not exactly what i had hopped for
09:52 < horms> but if he actually was to step up and maintain the drivers then personally i would think it was a positive thing. others may have other opinions on that
09:52 < geertu> It may be justificatin for Sergei against his management to spend time on it.
09:54 < horms> Indeed, that is possible
09:57 < wsa_> i think we are done
09:58 < wsa_> i will push the updated todo to the repo
09:58 < wsa_> and write a short report
09:58 < horms> great, thanks
09:58 < wsa_> so, guys, thanks for all your work in 2015!
09:58 < shimoda> thank you!
09:58 < horms> likewise.
09:59 < wsa_> it is a really great experience for me to work with you!
09:59 < geertu> you're welcome
09:59 < wsa_> i hope you and your families arrive fine in 2016
10:00 < wsa_> and that we continue then where we left off :)
10:00 < wsa_> hacking upstream the right way (tm)
10:00 < wsa_> ;)
10:01 < geertu> +1
10:02 < horms> nice, best wishes to you too. looking forward to more in 2016.
